Mel Collins is celebrating his 73rd birthday today. Having first joined King Crimson in 1970 through to the final Earthbound tour in 1972, Mel guested so memorably on Red, the final KC album of the 1970s. Those folks who missed sax and flute in subsequent incarnations of the band had their prayers answered in 2014 when the new seven-headed beast went out on the road across America.
